Jacksonville, FL — A murder warrant has now been issued, a day after the Baker County Sheriff's Office found a woman's body inside a Macclenny apartment.
Deputies are now identifying that man as 47-year-old Joel Weeks. The woman found dead has been identified as his mother, 66-year-old Rebekah Osteen.
Based on the investigation so far, deputies believe Weeks is responsible for his mother's murder. We're told he also has two outstanding warrants from Duval County--- one for violation of probation for DUI, the other a violation of probation for domestic violence. Deputies say the victim of that domestic violence was his mother.
Weeks is currently recovering from his injuries in a hospital, but once released, he will be arrested and taken to the Duval County jail.
Deputies say family members told them Weeks had a history of violence toward his mother and were unaware he was at Osteen's apartment. Family also told deputies that Osteen moved to Baker County in hopes of getting away from Weeks.
The sheriff's office says Weeks will be charged with second-degree murder, but the investigation remains active.
