ATLANTIC BEACH, Fla. — Atlantic Beach Police say a man wanted in an attempted aggravated battery has been captured.
The initial incident happened in the 600 block of Atlantic Boulevard, according to an alert posted by ABPD on the SaferWatch app.

The Neptune Beach Police Department posted on its Facebook page that a suspect wanted by the Atlantic Beach Police Department fled into Neptune Beach and was subsequently apprehended in the 200 block of Hopkins Street.
The Jacksonville Beach Police Department and Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office also responded to assist. The police activity in the area led to Atlantic Beach and Neptune Beach elementary schools going on lockdown. The following communications were sent to parents:
Atlantic Beach ES Initial Communication
“Hello Atlantic Beach Elementary School Families, This is Principal Gallagher. First, please know that all students and staff are safe. Again, all students and staff are safe. However, the school is on a lockdown as a precaution due to police activity in the neighborhood. Repeating, the school is on lockdown due to police activity in the neighborhood. We remind you that while a school is on lockdown, no one is allowed to enter or leave the campus. We will follow up with you once the situation is clear. Thank you and stand by for more information.”
All Clear Communication
“Hello again, Atlantic Beach Elementary School Families, this is Principal Gallagher calling with good news. Law enforcement has informed us that we can return to normal operating status. Repeating, law enforcement has informed us that we may return to normal operating status, and the earlier lockdown has been lifted. Thanks for your patience and cooperation in these situations when we take necessary steps to keep our students and staff safe and our campus secure. If you ever have any questions or feedback about your student’s experience here at Atlantic Beach, don’t hesitate to reach out to me through the school. Thanks again and have a great afternoon.”
Neptune Beach ES Communication
“Hello Neptune Beach families, this is Principal Kavanagh calling. I just want to report that law enforcement directed us to go on a brief code yellow lockdown earlier this afternoon due to police activity in our area. The entire situation lasted about 30 minutes, and law enforcement has now cleared us to return to normal operations. Students and staff did a great job following our procedures and everyone remained safe. Any time our day is disrupted because of something like this, I want to make sure you are informed, and thanks for your patience and cooperation as we take the steps necessary to keep students and staff safe.
