Arrest made in Duval school bus shooting motivated by boredom

A 17-year-old has been arrested for shooting at a school bus from Wolfson High School.

The incident is believed to have happened around 10th and Fairfax. JSO says a witness saw 17-year-old Martinez Jennings shoot what appeared to be a long gun at the bus.

The bus suffered damage toward the rear.  One female student suffered a minor injury to her finger, but police haven't yet confirmed whether that was the result of the shot or glass.

The witness led police to where Jennings was last seen, and detectives made contact with him as he was walking out of a residence while holding a “BB/pellet type” rifle, according to JSO. He was questioned, and JSO says he confessed to shooting the bus because “he was bored”. He allegedly told police he was previously shooting squirrels, and we’re told JSO determined he was shooting rocks from his weapon.

He has been arrested for a felony count of shooting deadly missiles/objects into an occupied vehicle.
