Jacksonville FL — Another small step towards normalcy.

Tuesday Jacksonville Mayor Lenny Curry announced all restrictions at Duval County beaches will be lifted starting Wednesday. He says there will be no limits on hours or activities, but you should still continue to practice social distancing and no groups with 10 or more people in them. We reported back in March when all beaches in the county closed to prevent the spread of coronavirus.

The mayor also announced the Jacksonville Zoo will reopen with limitations this weekend. We reached out to learn exactly when the Zoo would be reopening and they tell us their official reopening date is set for Saturday, but they are inviting members and donors to come on Friday to help with reopening testing.

“The zoo is one of our city’s most treasured assets, and I’m glad to see it safely and cautiously reopen for our citizens to enjoy,” Curry says.

The mayor says in order to get into the park you’ll need to have to buy a ticket online, you won’t be able to buy one at the ticket booths.

He says all enclosed exhibits, theaters and indoor spaces including the splash zone will remain closed. Masks will be available for guests and employees will be wearing them while out in public.

Curry says there will there will be a one-way path way through the zoo and there will be 25 hand sanitizing stations setup.

“I’m grateful for their patience and cooperation throughout this pandemic,” Curry says. “They have formulated a solid plan for a cautious reopening of their exhibits.”
