A plot to steal thousands of dollars of liquor from stores in St. Augustine by sticking bottles in bags and walking out the door turned out to be too good to be true.
Three Jacksonville women are facing charges in St. Johns County after multiple liquor stores were robbed this month, according to the Sheriff's Office.
Tracy Valerie Sullivan, Stacy Venessa Sullivan and Montavia Derrisha Sullivan are accused of going into a Publix and a Walmart multiple times over three straight days, and stealing a variety of liquor bottles without paying, according to their St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office arrest reports. They were also caught trying to do the same thing at a Walgreens yesterday.
They are all charged with multiple counts of felony retail theft, according to their arrest reports, and Stacy Sullivan is facing a battery charge after deputies say she took off her shoe and started hitting a customer outside the Walgreens with it.
According to Stacy Sullivan's arrest report, when a store employee tried to protect the customer, the employee was pushed to the ground. The women were later taken into custody during a traffic stop.
The series of robberies began April 2 when the group of women made a stop at both the Publix at 55 Ava Way and the Walmart on U.S. 1 in St. Augustine, according to the incident reports. The women went back to both stores each of the next two days.
The women stole a total of 71 bottles from the Walmart worth $2,280 and 23 bottles from the Publix worth $939, according to the reports.
Tracy and Montavia Sullivan were first arrested Friday on theft charges, according to their first arrest reports, and Stacy Sullivan wasn't arrested until all three were apprehended during the traffic stop following the incident at Walgreens.
