The St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office says it’s speaking with four teen suspects following 18 vehicle burglaries in the Whisper Ridge and Murabella area.
According to the sheriff's office, deputies were called about four young men trying car door handles in the Murabella neighborhood early Wednesday morning. When deputies arrived, they were able to take three of the suspects into custody without any issues. Deputies say the fourth suspect ran, but was caught about an hour or so later.
The sheriff's office says as they began investigating the various vehicle burglary calls, they were able to match calls with property the suspects had on them, including two stolen guns.
At this time, deputies say there are at least two more handguns that remain unaccounted for. They believe these weapons may have been ‘ditched’ by the suspects. If you come across these weapons, you’re urged to contact SJSO immediately.
The suspects names and charges have not been released at this time, but the sheriff’s office says they are all between the ages of 16 to 18-years-old and are Duval County residents.
