JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Darrell Paige, 21, has been arrested in connection to the officer-involved shooting off San Jose Blvd. Sunday evening.
JSO officers say the situation started when they tried to pull over a vehicle in the area of Powers Ave. and University Blvd. for a red light violation. Officers say the vehicle drove off very fast and a chase started. Police used “stop sticks” near I-295 and San Jose Blvd. which forced the vehicle to stop. JSO officers say the driver got out and ran from the scene. That driver was Paige. An officer followed him around a building and ended up firing one shot, hitting Paige in the leg.
No officers were hurt. JSO says seven people total were in the vehicle and the six passengers are being questioned by police.
Paige is being charged with Fleeing a Law Enforcement Officer, Reckless Driving, and Driving while License Suspended, Canceled, or Revoked.
Paige has previously faced possession of marijuana charges and carrying a concealed firearm charges.
