$100 million and counting: THE PLAYERS celebrates charitable milestone

Jacksonville, FL — It’s a significant milestone for THE PLAYERS Championship: $100 million dollars has been donated to local charities since the tournament’s inception.

And tournament Executive Director Jared Rice is announcing another significant milestone: $50 million in donations since 2011 to education and child health programs, which is nearly two years ahead of schedule.

Celebrating their milestone, THE PLAYERS donated buses to the Jacksonville School for Autism, Heartfelt Ministries, Jacksonville Children’s Chorus and the Police Athletic League.

“It’s a real testament to the community and something we should all be proud of”, said Rice.

Jacksonville Mayor Lenny Curry has proclaimed July 13th as THE PLAYERS Championship Charity Day.

In 2011 THE PLAYERS announced a 10-year goal to make meaningful impacts in youth charities, particularly in the areas of education and character development.

“The stories that have come from it are really inspiring and humbling”, Rice said.

Each year, money generated by THE PLAYERS Championship benefits more than 300 charities throughout Northeast Florida.
