JTA plans to increase bus capacity starting Wednesday amid pandemic

Buses will be a little more crowded in Jacksonville starting tomorrow.

The Jacksonville Transportation Authority is increasing capacity from 25 passengers to 30. JTA says it’s part of phased-return to full capacity later this summer.

Before the pandemic hit, JTA buses were able to seat 38 customers with room for 25 people standing up, but that number was drastically reduced in March 2020 due to coronavirus concerns.

JTA customers and employees are still required to wear face coverings inside JTA facilities, buses, Skyway trains and other vehicles. Social distancing and other guidelines will remain in place for now as well when possible.
