Clark Howard says be prepared to pay more for some school supplies

It’s time to start thinking about back-to-school shopping, but our Consumer Warrior Clark Howard says you might be surprised by the prices you see for some items.

Clark says things like computers and clothes will cost you more while pencils and notebooks should be around the same price as previous years.

“The computer prices because of the chip problems and the shortages that built up with all the people doing school at home and people working at home, that one’s not so good,” Clark say.

He say there’s not as much of a supply of clothing this year, so it’s a good idea to wear some of last year’s outfits again this time around.

Go ahead and buy lunch boxes, staplers and other classroom items like that.

“Those are seasonal items that are brought in by the retailer, specially for the back to school,” Clark says. Those are all promotionally priced.

Another good way to save a few bucks is through Florida’s back-to-school sales tax holiday, which runs for 10 days starting this Saturday.
