Man, his truck shot at while driving on I-295 near 103rd Street, Jacksonville police say

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office is investigating after a man was shot while driving on Interstate 295 near 103rd Street.

Officers responded just after 6 a.m. Tuesday and found the man, who is in his 50s.

The man told officers he was driving south on I-295 in light traffic “when he heard a loud noise and thought he ran over something.”

His truck stopped running, so he pulled over. That’s when he discovered he and his truck were hit by gunfire.

Police said the man’s wound was minor, possibly a grazing shot, and he declined medical treatment.

Investigators said there is not a clear motive for the shooting. Violent Crime Detectives and Crime Scene Detectives responded and the road was closed briefly while investigators looked for evidence
