The 10-year anniversary that marked the 72 day marriage of Kim Kardashian and Kris Humphries is upon us. The world watched as Humphries swept Kardashian, supposedly, off her feet, ending 72 days later with a messy, very public divorce.
Let’s take a look back at the timeline of events that led up to the messy breakup.
October 2010
Kim was first spotted courtside at a basketball game where Humphries was playing. Days later, the first public appearance was made in New York.
January 2011
Kim tweeted a photo of Kris as a child, citing that she wants her son to look like him.
Despite the rumors flying that the two were an item, in an interview with MTV News, Kardashian claims she is still single.
June 2011
Kris made his debut on Keeping Up With the Kardashians, often butting heads with Kim’s sister, Khloé.
Kim and Kris got engaged seven months after their first spotting together. He setup her bedroom in her home with candles and rose petals written out to say, “Will You Marry Me?”. He proposed with a $20 million, 20.5-carat ring and it aired on Keeping Up With the Kardashians.
August 20, 2011
Kris and Kim tied the knot at a Montecito estate. There were 450 guests in attendance, with celebrities like Ryan Seacrest, Julianne Hough, Lindsey Lohan, Serena Williams and Eva Longoria. She wore three Vera Wang dresses, valued at $20,000 each. The pair honeymooned in Italy.

The wedding aired in a 2-day, four-hour total E! special titled, Kim’s Fairytale Wedding, A Kardashian Event.
October 31, 2011
Trouble in paradise for the two hit, with TMZ reporting on October 31, just 72 days after their wedding, that Kim filed for divorce, with “irreconcilable differences” cited. The couple had a prenuptial agreement in place.
November 2011
Humphries filed to annul their marriage, noting “fraud” as the reason, hoping for separation rather than divorce, according to the Hollywood Reporter.
February 2012
The pair are accused of getting married for ratings. In an interview, Humphries sat down and told Access Hollywood correspondent, Jill Martin, that, “To me it was real.”
June 2012
Kim is interviewed with Oprah on Oprah’s Next Chapter and discussed why she ended her marriage with Kris Humphries.
July 2012
Kim Kardashian goes public with Kanye west at Paris Fashion Week.
In Kanye West’s song, “Cold”, a dig is made to Humphries, with the lyric, “Lucky I ain’t had Jay drop him from the team”. Jay Z is co-owner of the Nets, Humphries’ team.
Later, in an article from Us Weekly, Humphries used the lyric in a tweet saying, “I’m up at Brooklyn! . . . ‘lucky I didn’t have Jay drop me from the team.’” after signing a two-year deal with the Brooklyn Nets.
June 2013
The divorce is finalized after a settlement was reached in April to have Humphries drop the annulment.
May 2017
Kim revealed on an episode of Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen, that she “knew, like, honeymoon, it wasn’t going to work out”. Watch her talk about her marriage with Humphries beginning at the 5:16 mark.
