Police: Driver who hit, killed a pedestrian in Jax Beach had blood alcohol content of .165

More than a month after a fatal crash in Jacksonville Beach, the driver police say is responsible is now being charged with DUI manslaughter and vehicular homicide.

Officers say Deborah Brewer, 44, had a 0.165 blood alcohol content, when she jumped a curb and then hit a man walking on the sidewalk.

They say Brewer then proceeded to hit a palm tree, a parked car, and a Jacksonville Transportation Authority trolley before coming to a stop.

The crash took the life of Michael Gunderson, 24, who was visiting the city from Wisconsin. Friends say he had never seen the ocean before the trip and was planning to head home the next day.
