There're still a lot of "what ifs" pertaining to Hurricane Irma, but officials in Florida are not waiting to find out what they are. Governor Rick Scott is tweeting, making Floridians aware that the time to prepare for the storm is now.

Emergency management officials in Clay and St. Johns Counties are advising residents in their respective counties to stock up on water and nonperishable food now.
“Don’t wait until something gets named out in the ocean to start your preparedness, do it today.” St. Johns County Emergency Management Coordinator Kelly Wilson says.
She also mentions having a plan for your pets, checking your insurance policies, and having enough medications after any storm passes through.
“If you don’t have flood insurance, buy flood insurance.” Wilson says.
It’s not just water and food you should be stocking up, its fuel as well.
“Hopefully we won’t need it next weekend, but it will beat the rush next weekend if for some reason we end up taking protective action.” says John Ward the Director of Emergency Management for Clay County.
Ward also says if you are told to evacuate to get out and know your evacuation zones.
