The Duval Democratic Party selected Tracie Davis to replace Reggie Fullwood in the House District 13 election, after Fullwood pleaded guilty to wire fraud and resigned from his seat.
Davis lost to Fullwood in the House District 13 primary but will now be in position to hold office in Tallahassee once again.
“I am very excited to be the Democratic Party’s nominee for House District 13,” Davis said in a statement. “In June, I decided to run for this seat because I live in House District 13 and care deeply about the important challenges facing people in our neighborhoods.”
Davis says she plans to work on job creation, education, health care, public safety and transportation during her time in Tallahassee, should she be elected.
Before running in House District 13, Davis served as the deputy supervisor of elections in Duval Count and as a special education teacher in Duval County Public Schools.
According to Davis’ campaign website, she received a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Edward Waters College and a Mater of Education from the University of North Florida.
Davis will face Republican Mark Griffin in the general election.
