News that longtime Jacksonville Congresswoman Corrine Brown was served a federal subpoena sent shockwaves through Northeast Florida political circles.

According to multiple reports, Brown was served Monday while at dinner at a BBQ restaurant on the northside.

We still don't know what the feds may be looking into.

WOKV Washington Insider Jamie Dupree says Brown is required to notify the full House of Representatives that she received a subpoena.  That letter would be read into the record on the House floor.  We will post that notification once it is issued.

"I spoke with a number of Florida lawmakers as this was developing, nobody of course knew anything about it but they seemed a bit puzzled as to why she would be subpoenaed in this way.  Especially that they did it at a restaurant, supposedly.  Usually with this kind of thing they'll serve papers at the office, quietly", said Dupree.

In a written statement delivered to WOKV Wednesday evening, Brown said:

"The 5th congressional district is under attack through the redistricting process, and now it is under siege by other political forces.  It is not surprising that every time we go through the redistricting process some tangential investigation comes up.  I want to assure my constituents that these unfounded and politically motivated actions will no distract me from my critical work of ensuring that the federal resources and rights of the citizens of the 5th congressional district are being protected".
