Hurricane Irma: Jacksonville area shelter information (Сергей Рязанский)

Jacksonville, FL — The City of Jacksonville is opening shelters for people who evacuate their homes ahead of Hurricane Irma.

Nine general population shelter locations and four special needs locations are open at 10am Friday.

General Population Shelters that are PET FRIENDLY:

Landmark Middle School 101 Kernan Blvd N (32225)

Chimney Lakes Elementary 9353 Staples Mill Drive (32244)

Mandarin Middle School 5100 Hood Road (32257)

Legends Center  5130 Soutel Drive (32208) --This is a dual population shelter

General Population Shelters with NO PETS:

Twin Lakes Elementary 8000 Point Meadows Drive (32256)

Oceanway Elementary 1255 Gillespie Ave (32218)

Abess Park Elementary 12731 Abess Blvd (32225)

Andrew Robinson 101 W. 12th Street (32206)

Arlington Middle School 8141 Lone Star Road (32211)

While some shelters may offer food items, citizens are advised to bring snacks to minimize food allergies, limited availability, and other issues. Items for consideration include the following: 
• Photo Identification and important documents

• Prescription medication

• Water

• Special dietary baby food and diapers

• Flashlight and batteries

• Folding chair

• Bedding

• Hygiene products
