|
WOKV wraps up a week-long look at the war in Iraq with the story of how First Coast families cope when their soldier returns from the front lines in a casket. WOKV's Jared Halpern has the story of one man's mission to turn his grief into good. Florida Fallen Heroes Foundation WOKV's week-long series Iraq: Five Years Later continues with a look at the politics of the war. WOKV's Rich Jones sat down with Washington Bureau Chief Jamie Dupree. They talked about news coverage in the run-up to the war, the role of Congress during the good times and bad, and the role the war will play in the 2008 Presidential race. As WOKV continues a week-long series of reports on the First Coast's contribution to the War in Iraq, we hear the story of a Florida National Guard black hawk helicopter pilot back from the frontlines. Major Charlie Van Zandt spent a year based in Kuwait flying an array of missions around Iraq. As a veteran of the Gulf War in 1991, the Major offers insight on changing technologies of war and what the troop surge did for the morale of soldiers serving overseas. As we near the five year anniversary of the Iraq war, WOKV's Jeffrey Hess takes a look at the committment of Florida's military bases to the war.
