The Department of Transportation is ready to spread sand this morning if the roads get icy.

The DOT's Mike Goldman says their sand-spreader hasn't been used in about 20 years, but that doesn't mean they're not ready.  "If there's a situation with the roads because of ice, we'll be ready to go," said Goldman.  Goldman says it's usually law enforcement that will let them know if it's needed.

He says the bigger problem is usually sprinkler systems that causing ice patches.
