Thieves Hit Soup Kitchen But Can't Kill Holiday Spirit

Instead of giving thanks, some crooks took everything they could from the needy in Palatka.

But the generosity the Thanksgiving holiday represents prevails nonetheless today at the Bread of Life Soup Kitchen.

Blanche Janis runs the charity and tells our news partner Channel 4 someone broke in Sunday night and took all the food and some money.

"Stole food, turkeys, we had a police scanner in here, they took that.  They took all the money out of the donation can, and sat here and ate and left the mess behind".

But when people heard about the theft, they donated replacements for everything taken, and even more.

The charity will be serving 400 meals today with the help of volunteers.
