Suspected Drug Dealer Shot by Undercover Officer

UPDATE: The man who was the focus of this morning's drug bust on the Northwest side of town by the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office is 22-year-old Bruce Kohn. He reportedly had no criminal record prior to today's incident, when he got into an undercover officer's car and tried to make sell 30 pills of ecstasy. Chief Rick Graham says Kohn pulled out a gun when he saw other officers coming to arrest him, shouting "You called the cops on me!" But Officer David Sosnoski was able to fire his weapon first, hitting Kohn in the neck. The officer is doing okay - he's a 15 year JSO veteran and this is his second police-involved shooting. The suspect is still at the hospital and has received surgery for his wound.

A suspect ends up in the hospital with a bullet wound after a drug bust by Jacksonville Police. That suspect is now in surgery for his wound.

It all started around 11:15 this morning when the narcotics unit of the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office was working a pre-arranged "Buy and Bust" near a home on Princely Avenue. The suspect got in the undercover officer's car and once the drug deal was made, the cops were called in.

"During the deal, the suspect comes out with a firearm and the undercover officer pulls his firearm, fires one shot at the suspect," says JSO Chief Rick Graham.

The officer is doing okay. The suspect was a known drug dealer in the Northwest Jacksonville area.
