A local man is in critical condition at the hospital after police say a woman drove through a stop sign and slammed into his car on Lem Turner road.

The Florida Highway Patrol said it happened Saturday night at the intersection with U.S. 1.

Troopers said 48-year-old Carleatha Childs wasn't seriously injured, but the man she hit, 67-year-old Marvin Henderson of Hilliard, was taken to the hospital with critical injuries.

Tests to determine if alcohol played a role in the crash are pending.
