Jimmy Smith Pleads Guilty; Sentenced to Probation
A former Jaguar standout will spend six months under house arrest as part of a plea deal to avoid jail time. Jimmy Smith was sentenced to a total of 18 months probation after pleading guilty this morning to drug possession.

After the sentence, Smith told reporters this is the next step in getting his life back together.
The sentence stems from an April traffic stop in which the former wide receiver was found driving without a license and in possession of both cocaine and marijuana.
In July, Smith also pleaded no contest to further, unrelated charges of drug possession and drunk driving. He was placed then on probation for a year and ordered to perform 50 hours of community service.
The sentence handed down Wednesday also includes 100 hours of community service for the Salvation Army. The 40-year-old Smith entered a voluntary drug rehabilitation
program after the April arrest.
