A transplant milestone has been reached at the Mayo Clinic.
The hospital recently completed its 2-thousandth liver transplant.
Chuck Drysdale received a transplant from Mayo a little over two years ago.
"(They) Put a new liver and a new kidney in and the rest is history. I spent about 10 days in the hospital; I have come back and am going strong now. Working full time and doing what I like to do. They gave me my life back basically," Drysdale said.
He credits the Mayo doctors with detecting his illness and getting him new organs within the week.
"You're so up in the air; you don't know what the problem is. Your scared to death, your family is scared to death. And then you get brought in with an organization that is totally professional and they know what they are doing and they can really handle the problem. And help you, ease you through a really difficult period of your life," Drysdale said.
He said the experience was unique from other hospitals and probably saved his life.
