Woman Shot, Killed Near Downtown Jacksonville
Police tape surrounded the vehicle and a liquor store at the intersection of W. Beaver Street and N. Myrtle Avenue, though police believe the crime scene is somewhere else.
"The driver of the car, who we're interviewing now, says it may have happened off of Myrtle somewhere," Sgt. Derrick Lewis with the Sheriff's Office homicide unit says. "He claims to not know the area very well. He was in a dark area and says he just didn't know exactly where he was."
That driver, who called 911 after Pratt was shot, is not considered a suspect in the shooting. Lewis says evidence suggest he did not fire the deadly shot, though anything is possible.
"We don't know exactly why this ocurred," Lewis said. "Possibly, it could be drug related. Maybe buying drugs or something like that, but I'm speculating."
