The canvassing board certified last week's special election on Monday. Duval County Supervisor of Elections Jerry Holland certified the election after the canvassing board reviewed it.
"We did a hand recount of a randomly selected race and precint, which is the school board race in district 2-a," Holland said that hand count matched the machine count.
It is not over, state senate winner John Thrasher has to run off against three write in candidates in the October 6th election. Only the official write in candidates can be written on the ballot.
"If you write in yourself or someone else, that vote does not count unless it is one of the official write in candidates," Holland said.
Also Atlantic Beach as its planned municipal elections, and they will have a new mayor because John Meserve is now a Jacksonville City Council member.
The final vote on the replace for Jim King in the State Senate will be:
Republican John Thrasher versus write in candidates: Robert Ratten, Alden Lawrence Antin Bryanton Jr., John Rosso.
In the Atlantic Beach municipal elections:
Mayor Seat 1:Milton "Sarge" Hall and Mike Borno
Commissioner Seat 4: Carolyn Woods
Commissioner Seat 5: George Hromco and Jonathan Daugherty and Michael Hoffmann
