That's because a large number of cops, deputies and troopers from along I-95 on the Florida coast will patrol the roadway days before and right on through the July 4th weekend.
"To help reduce the number of aggressive driving issues, speeding, individuals who shouldn't be driving at all, DUI impairment and other issues to make the roadway a little safer before the kick off of the holiday season," says Sgt. Chuck Mulligan with the St. Johns County Sheriff's Office.
Mulligan says the program is called Stay Alive on 95. He says the fines can get expensive, some starting at 100-dollars and up. If it's successful, Mulligan says this may become an annual effort.
