FCCJ Tuition Going Up?
Higher learning is commanding even higher prices in Jacksonville.
The administration at Florida Community College at Jacksonville is asking the board of trustees to approve a hike in fees and tuition by 8% percent starting this fall.
If approved, it would be an increase of about $339 dollars for a typical full time student.
FCCJ officials say they need the money to offset a 12.5% cut in state funding.
The school will also increase its needs-based scholarship program by 80%.
Tuition and fees at the school will continue to be about 40% less than tuition for undergraduate classes at the University of North Florida and will be below the state average for all state and community colleges in Florida.
The College will begin operating under the new name Florida State College at Jacksonville on August first.
