Virus Could Fade in Summer, Re-emerge in Fall

But early analysis shows the swine flu could be gone by the summer. That's according to Dr. Glenn Morris of the University of Florida's Emerging Pathogens Institute who says diseases like these don't hold up in the warm weather.
"The flu virus is not as easily transmitted in hot weather," says Morris. "And so, consequently there's a reasonable chance this is simply going to die down."
But the bad news is, it could also come back once the weather gets colder.
"I would say it is far and away more likely that this flu strain will simply blend in with other flu strains that are being transmitted across the country," Morris added.
He's not surprised about how quickly swine flu has spread, and says there's no evidence yet that it's any worse than the average flu. Morris recommends using the same precautions and medications.
