No Searches Planned For Haleigh Cummings
The Haleigh Cummings investigation is not involving any massive searches these days.
Lieutenant Johnny Greenwood with the Putnam County Sheriff's Office says they've been following up on tips and conducting interviews. "Right now as far as an actual physical search there are none scheduled. None of the tips we've received have indicated that there are areas that need to be searched any further," says Greenwood.
The 5-year-old girl has been missing for a month and a half.
Meanwhile an attorney for her father, Ronald Cummings, has released a statement calling any allegations of abuse 'reckless' and 'an inexcusable publicity stunt'
Haleigh's mother, Crystal Sheffield, and her attorney appeared on CNN's "Nancy Grace" last week saying the injuries seen in a picture of Haleigh might have been caused by her father.
What others are saying
- Yes, Misty can testify against Ron, or Ron against Misty. They are only protected against what has happened since they were married, but not anything said or done before they were married. That was cleared by the attorneys on the Nancy Grace show last week. Ron was on Nancy Grace that night and a caller suggested that they married so that Misty couldn't testify against Ron. Nancy, supported by the other attorneys told the caller that she was mistaken, things that happened before they were married were now exempt. You know if you have two bathrooms, there is a reason that you choose to use one and not the other and I think you would remember why the next day. She is either a poor liar or she is just stupid!!!!!
- HALEIGH CUMMINGSHow is it possible for kids in Florida to continully come up missing with no trace?? From the very beginning I haven't felt that Misty was giving all the details as they DID happen. BUT now I am very curious about Crystal (the birth mom). She stated on Nancy Grace that Ronald abused her when she was with him. She stated she left him with the kids and moved away. Shortly after, she said she let them go see him and was too kind hearted to get them back!!! Then she said the courts gave him custody. Well, my thought is why didn't she bring up these abuse allegations in court? We all know if a man will hit a woman...why wouldn't he hit a kid?? She said she never saw Ronald abuse the kids, but was suspious of bruises that appeared on their bodies during HER visitation. Again, why didn't she bring these allegations out before now?? If she felt so strongly that he was abusing these children BEFORE now that she kept photos of the bruises, then why didn't she report it?? I feel SHE is as GUILITY of abuse as anyone if she didn't pursue the charges until the cameras was on her!!! I have a GUT feeling that someone of the biological mother's side of the family has this girl...and is trying to FRAME ronald, so that she can re-gain custody!!! Just a gut feeling!!!! I am not saying Ronald cummings is the father of the year, but you don't see him posted on the news making allegations at other people. His focus seems to be finding his daughter whereas Crystal is focusing on making him look horrible! I feel there is a time and place for everything, and I feel she should KEEP her mouth shut and keep this drama to themselves!!! Personally, she is making herself look like trash!!!
- HaleighI think that while Haleigh's father may be very limited, he loves her all the same. I don't think that there was abuse. I think that the "baby's mama" is absolutely nutty. I mean what was it like a month before she actually cried?
- HaleighI am sure police are keeping alot of this case under wrap, they don't want the circus of the Anthony case repeated.
- Haleigh CummingsI haven't read much on this case, but didn't the father marry the baby sitter? Now she cannot testify against him. Is that correct?
- samantha commentWhat she wrote sounds very real !!!
- Haleigh CummingsThere is definetly something fishy about this whole thing. However, the search for the little girl should go on until she is recovered. The length of time since she went missing hints that she will not be found alive and this is sad. In the beginning, not much emotion showed from her birth mother until she decided that abuse had taken place and found an attorney to take her case. I agree that first we find Haleigh, then if you feel the need go on for custody. Two battles at one time will not work and each will interfere with the other. Priority is not getting even nor striking back, it remains finding the baby girl. Don't care who becomes involved, just get it done.
- My HypothesisSince everyone is throwing out theories i have one. first off, right when this happened something was always bothering me and that was someone entering a place they have never been before, i thnik a very high percentage of humans wont go into someone else house in the middle of the night if they know people are home UNLESS they have been there before. So i really chalk misty up to being 17 and somewhat slow, so lets forget her for the moment. also many people seem to like commiting crimes outside of their area, say someone out of state, its much easier for them to get in, do the deed and flee the state quickly. so who knows the house, has been there before and had the opporunity to do it? THE COUSIN who came in from out of state!! Heres why I say so, mistys cousin sheila say that the van was moved that same night, that very likely means someone took her keys, used the van, than returned it, all on the same night the girl disappears. ill also bet since misty let sheila borrow the van that sheila also had a key to misty and ronalds house. this also expalins the entry at ronalds house whcih always bothered me, first off how did someone get in and i am sure whoever it was IS familiar with the house and the people inside. wasnt the cousin there at the house earlier that day? he probably overheard misty talking about how ron was at work and was just her and the kids. he really is the only one who knew the place, likely knew what was going on and had the opportunity since sheila only lived a couple of miles away.
- haleigh cummingsI agree, LP might stir up some vital info if nothing else! Lets not let this little girl go just because her family does'nt have alot of money! Look what LP did getting that hoover guy and his friend checked into. I think its a good idea!
- HaleighI can not beleive that someone is smarter than the Police in Florida and that Step mother should be locked up until her story is straight. and the mother should stop this find that poor girl. I agree something is being missed nobody can just vanish into thin air, and if stp mom was not home why doesn't she just say so? this is one big disgrace!!!!!!!!!
- Haleigh CummingsThe news media and authorities need to take the focus off of the parents and continue on focusing on this poor little girl. I can't believe that in a time like this the mother is more worried in obtaining custody of the children than finding her baby girl. Focus on what is most important then focus on what is not so important.
- WTF?Why would they stop searching for her? it is very likely that they missed something. the family needs to get over this custody/abuse bs and get out their and find this child...she could be laying the brush somewhere or pinned up in some sickos house.
- Haliegh CummingsI think that someone needs to do something to find this little girl. This case needs more media attention!! Get Leonard P. from the Casey Anthony deal involved in this. He is a very smart man. Someone do something! The 17 yr. old needs to be investigated more. Something stinks there!!!!
- Haleigh Cummingsi think that this case should have just as much media attention as Caylee Anthony case. There is something fishy about the 17 yr. old. When did the dogs hit on the garbage bin? How long after she dissapeared did this happen? How long does a body have to be deceasesd, before a dog can hit on it>Please, someone do something to find this little girl!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
