Report: Del Rio To Become Defensive Coordinator, Too
Meet the Jaguars new defensive coordinator: Jack Del Rio.
At the end of the season, Del Rio said that other than replacing the strength and conditioning staff, he was not going to fire any of his coaches.
But there have been some departures. Including the most recent: defensive backs coach Donnie Henderson is leaving.
So that leaves Del Rio in need of a defensive coordinator and a defensive backs coach. Brian Sexton is reporting that Del Rio will take control of the defense and serve as his own defensive coordinator. At the close of the season, Del Rio said that he wasn't planning on firing any coordinators or position coaches.
"Continuity is a plus for an organziation," Del Rio said. "Where you have a chance to be better, you have to do that."
Brian also reports that Henderson will be replaced by former Cleveland defensive coordinator Mel Tucker as the Jaguars defensive backs coach.
