Two Month Federal Income Tax Break Could Be Added to Next Stimulus Package
A Texas congressman has recommended a two-month suspension of the federal income tax.
Republican Congressman Ander Crenshaw thinks this could jump start the economy faster and more effectively than spending.
"It would be the kind of tax relief that, I think, I have always thought would help stimulate the economy," Crenshaw said it would cost about 300-billion dollars.
He projects that it would save the average family about 2-thousand dollars and than they could decide how they want to spend or save the money.
But Democratic congresswoman Corrine Brown believes stimulus packages are about spending to create jobs.
"And for every billion dollars we spend, it generates 47-thousand permanent jobs," Brown said.
She said that the country has a lot of work that needs down and spending money will have positive long term effects.
Both said they will wait to see what the new president has to offer and see where they go from there. But both representatives are receptive to a new stimulus bill next year.
