Health Care Premiums Rising Faster Than Earnings
The group Families USA says Florida families are dealing with an increasing burden, healthcare.
Executive Director, Ron Pollack says people are paying more and more but getting less and less. The growth in premiums "happened at the same time those premiums purchased thinner coverage". Pollack says that means "fewer benefits with higher deductibles and copayments".
Pollack says premiums rose 3.6 times faster than earnings in Florida from 2000 to 2007. Another way to look at it is that health insurance premiums grew by 72 percent while earnings increased by only 20 percent.
