Amendment 8 Removes The Middle Man

More than a decade ago Miami-Dade College had to ask the state legislature if they could put a question on the ballot that asks taxpayers in that area if a sales tax could be imposed to support the school.

This amendment basically takes the legisture out of the equation.

Susan Lehr with FCCJ says their board of trustees has not taken a formal position but in general they are supportive of the amendment.  "FCCJ has no plans for us to pursue it," says Lehr.

If you do approve Amendment 8 and the issue does come up at some point and you approve the tax it would expire after 5 years.
