The Wounded Warrior Project opens a one of a kind program in Jacksonville.
They have started the Training Rehabilitation and Advocacy Center, TRACK, on Jacksonville's Southside. "It's the first attempt by any group, to really help these warriors mind body and spirit. Not just provide funding to go back to school," said Jeff Searcy With Wounded Warrior. He said they currently have 17 warriors in a group called a "cohort". They going back to school and physical rehab together. Searcy said this will allow them to use each other's experiences and help each other get back to a normal life. "So they get to go through, banking on each other's experiences and strengths, and helping each other get through the 12-month program," Searcy said. He said they will bring in the second cohort early next year, and hope to expand it to nearly 30 soldiers. "So within the next 12-months we hope to have in the neighborhood of 50-60 warriors from around the country participating in this program right here in Jacksonville," Searcy said. He says they have training and classes on site, but also have partnerships with FCCJ, Vets Centers, and Brooks Rehabilitation, where members can go for classes or rehab that they cannot provide onsite. The Wounded Warrior Project is located at 7020 A C Skinner Pkwy. Find out more about the Wounded Warrior Project at their website.

What others are saying

  • More power to em!
In these uncertain political times, one thing is sure...our young men and women continue to sacrifice their minds, bodies and spirits for the good of our great nation. Let's not forget that as they come home from war! I couldn't imagine re-entering the workforce without the arm or leg I had 2 months before. Not to mention the mental trauma from seeing my buddy blown up by a roadside bomb.

Forget about what outfit Paris Hilton is wearing to the next red carpet and pay attention to the issues that matter - SUPPORT OUR TROOPS!
