Positive Signs for Florida Housing Market
The Sunshine State is second only to California for having the highest foreclosure rates in the country. Despite foreclosure filings being up 90% from this time last year, Alex Sanchez with the Florida Bankers Association says they're studying the statistics, and there's good news to report.
"We certainly have a ways to go, but I think that you're starting to see positive movement in a state like ours that home sales are recovering," says Sanchez.
But the news is not so good for those putting up "For Rent" signs. University of Florida researchers say the market is flooded with retail, office, industrial and apartment space for rent, and there are few takers.
