Duval: Drug Court Funding

Mayor John Peyton's proposed budget includes $250,000 to support drug court.

The treatment program is already supported by a $65 that's stretched four ways.

"The law library, adult drug court, juvenile drug court, the legal aide," says acting Court Administrator Joe Stelma.

Stelma says those funds bring in $330,000 for each program.  However, it's really not enough to put about 150 or more people through their program every year because they usually run out of money.

Stelma says it does help and City Councilman Daniel Davis is looking into how to turn the Mayor's 250 into 330 and that way they would have the bare minimum.
