Urban Meyer Watches Jags Practice
As the Jaguars continued their off-season workouts yesterday, they had a visitor in camp. Standing on the sidelines yesterday was Gators coach Urban Meyer. Jack Del Rio asked Meyer to address the Jaguars team. So what can a college coach tell a pro team?
"The whole thing with our team is don't take anything for granted now," Meyer said. "National Championships can be snatched from you in a New York minute. If you want to play in the NFL, that's not easy. Don't take anything for granted."
Meyer was also checking out some of his former players, like Derrick Harvey and Reggie Nelson, who both played for Meyer, and who are the Jaguars last two first round picks.
The Jaguars continue the Organized Team Activities (OTAs) today. Mini-camp Friday and Saturday is open to the public.
Also on the field for the first time as a Jaguar, former Florida State wide receiver Craphonso Thorpe. Thorpe was a dominant receiver at FSU before breaking his leg. The injury dropped him to a fourth round pick. Since 2005, he's bounced around from the Chiefs to the Texans, to the Lions to the Colts. Now, Thorpe thinks he can contribute to the Jaguars offense.
"I definately feel like I can contribute here," Thorpe said. "They brough in Jerry Porter, and he's a great receiver. But I definately feel like I can come in here and help out."
