An Alachua County Park Ranger is dead after a tragic accident during Saturday's violent storms.
The Florida Highway Patrol says Nathan Howell was on a routine patrol through Paynes Prairie Preserve State Park, south of Gainesville, when a tree fell in the road in front of him. Then, while sitting in his parked Ford Ranger pickup, another tree fell, crushing the pickup, and killing Howell. He was 28.
