One person is suffering from life-threatening injuries after a shooting at the Regents Apartments.

Witnesses began flooding the dispatch center at the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office with calls - saying gunfire was heard from an apartment. Officers and detectives were on scene - off of Southside Boulevard and Atlantic - shortly afterwards.

"12:15 this afternoon, officers were dispatched to an apartment, 301 Caravan Circle," says Sergeant Dan Janson with the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.

The victim is currently in critical condition at Shands Jacksonville.

Back at the scene, homicide detectives are analyzing the apartment for evidence that will tell whether this was a self-inflicted shooting or a violent act. They're also interviewing the multiple witnesses that reported hearing the gunshot.

There are no other signs of danger at the scene at this time.
