Ports Get The Once Over Again Today
As commercial shipping continues to grow in Jacksonville's Port, so too does the threat level.
Local, state and federal safety officials will recognize those threats today for the second day in a row, in a public safety effort dubbed "Operation Sea Box".
It's focused in identifying possible problems with shipping containers, pulling over trucks that don't meet federal safety standards, and even searching for illegal aliens trying to enter the country.
The Coast Guard is joined by U.S. Customs and Border Protection, the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office and Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents during the operation.
It's unclear how the agencies will report their findings and what steps they'll take to improve safety.
