Parents from three counties in Northeast Florida are rounded up by police for failing to send their kids to school.

More than a dozen parents arrested for failing to send their kids to school. The state arrested 15 parents on Tuesday contributing to the truancy of their children. The state says their kids had missed at least 20 days without excuse this school year. Assistant State Attorney Jay Plotkin says these are parents of young children who had failed to send their children to school even though the school had tried to work with them. "When we are talking about these young kids, I think the responsibility is clearly with their parents," Plotkin said. All together the kids missed a total of 26 years worth of school. The parents are facing at least two misdemeanor charges and Plotkin says they will most likely get probation but could also face jail time if the kids continue to miss school. The parents arrested were identified as:
  • Diorah Ann Crews from Clay County
  • Lorena Cothran, Michael Nap, Joni Thomas, Teresa Rowland and Chad Brown from Nassau County
  • Donald Winchester, Bobbie Singleton, Kathy Stanford, Michelle Todd, Rashael Pichelman, Terri Bullard, Lashawnda Russel, Terracotta Hughes and Jennifer Braley from Duval County
They are still about a dozen outstanding warrants for parents they were not able to arrest on Tuesday.
