New City Fees Explained

The phones are still ringing like crazy at City Hall as thousands want answers on how the new garbage and storm water fees are being calculated.

Marcy Cook with the Mayor's Office says they're still working out the kinks on the billing process, but most homeowners will pay $30 for each this year, and a bit more next year.

"It will be slightly higher," said Cook.  "This first bill contains nine months of the residential solid waste collection, and six months of storm water, so the next bill that comes out in April will be 12 months for both services."

Churches and some low income families are exempt from paying the fee.

You can get applications for exemptions on the Jacksonville's website.
