A Putnam County teenager and her boyfriend are now facing first degree murder charges.

We're learning new information about a nationwide amber alert for 15-year old Morgan Leppert and her 22-year old boyfriend Toby Lowry and how they fit into the death of a 66-year old Melrose man, James Stewart.

Leppert was reported missing last week and that triggered a nationwide amber alert. Police then found stewart's body and connected the couple to his killing.

Both are now charged with first degree murder for Stewart's killing. Police say the two killed the man and stole his truck and skipped town.

They say that Stewart was beaten with two metal rods and then suffocated.

They were caught together in Texas this weekend. They are still in Texas awaiting extradition from El Paso.
