Local Nurse Goes To South Africa
A local nurse is just back from her trip to South Africa to educate her counterparts on HIV/AIDS care. Shands Jacksonville nurse Willie Roberts spent 3 weeks there, bringing her expertise to a region of the world that really needs it.
"I worked with nurses in a hospital taking care of HIV/AIDS patients, teaching them basic nursing skills and knowledge," said Roberts.
She says the issue of HIV/AIDS over there is kept far too quiet. "Somehow we have to help them break the silence."
The trip was made possible through a grant from Georgetown University's Association of Nurses in AIDS Care.
