Hollywood Comes to Jacksonville
The film stars Kevin Spacey and relives the 2000 presidential debacle.
Local and state officials also packed the auditorium, including Mayor John Peyton.
"They really did a good job of capturing different locations in our city. The crew and the producers were wonderful to work with, and I think this is a good opportunity for our economy".
Peyton says the film added $3.3 million to Jacksonville's economy.
So, after months of production, did Recount win over the audience?
The best person to ask about the movie,is someone who actually worked through the fallout of the 2000 election.
Craig Waters was and still is the spokesperson for the Florida Supreme Court. Other than the actor who portrayed him having more hair than he does, he says the movie is a fair and accurate portrayal of the recount.
"People were definitely having very strong emotional reactions to what was going on".
He's even a bit nostalgic, saying there was more public trust in 2000, prior to the September 11th terrorist attacks.
