City Trying To Bring In 1,000 New Jobs

The Deutsche Bank could open an office in Jacksonville.  They promise to bring in 1,000 jobs by the year 2011.

Those jobs would pay on average more than $49,000 dollars a year.

If the Deutsche Bank does come to Jacksonville they would make their decision by the end of July.

Jacksonville Economic Development Commission, Business Development Chief, Lindsey Ballas says they would make their decision "definitely after approval from the local body, our city council, and after approval from the state level".

The Deutsche Bank will get almost $900,000 in city incentives if they open an office in Jacksonville.  Most of that money, $600,000 is for the jobs they've promised.  Ballas says that's part of a larger state Qualified Targeted Industry program.  A company gets $3,000 per job and the city is responsible for 20 percent of that.

Ballas says they're also looking at Nashville, TN as well as other places in the Southeast.  If everything goes well, they'd move to a building on the Southside.
