Georgia Power Prices Going Up, Could Yours?
Skyrocketing fuel prices are driving up the cost of electricity in Georgia, but Jacksonville may get a reprieve.
Georgia Power is increasing rates by three percent, in response to the price of coal and natural gas. JEA is also watching those prices, hoping to stave off local rate hikes. "That's why we have a budget and we're looking at very closely, said spokeswoman Gerri Boyce. "It's something we'll have to keep our eyes on as these prices keep escalating." Boyce said JEA bought a lot of fuel in advance of recent price hikes. Nonetheless, JEA is pushing for more conservation to avoid long-term hikes to your energy bill.
