Food Warehouse Shutdown After "Unsanitary" Conditions Found
N & L Inc. has been shutdown.
Investigators describe unsanitary conditions at the westside warehouse in the 4100 block of Dillon St. "There was litter on the floor, the employees were smoking around the food, there was roaches seen by the detectives in the building," says Lt. Michelle Cook.
Twenty illegal aliens were taken into custody by Immigration and Customs Enforcment. Officials say 18 Hispanic and 2 Asian workers were found.
Cook says the city is giving the business 48 hours to get food out but the building has been condemned.
The company that owns the warehouse is based in New York. The operating manager is known by the name of "Jamie". Officials say they don't know if they'll pursue charges against her but they do want to speak to her.
Cook says "Jamie" owns four houses near the warehouse where the workers lived.
The investigation is ongoing.
