Convicted NYC lawyer sentenced to 25-to-life for murder By the Associated Press NEW YORK (AP) -- A lawyer has been sentenced to 25 years to life in prison for arranging the murder of a client's husband. A Manhattan judge sentenced 57-year-old Manuel Martinez on Friday in the shooting death of George Kogan in 1990. Martinez had been convicted last month after being found in Mexico and extradited. He had represented Kogan's wife in a bitter divorce fight. She had been the beneficiary of life-insurance policies worth $4.8 million. The 65-year-old widow was never charged in the case. Martinez denied he had Kogan killed.
